Las púas son una forma de cinceles que se usan para gradas y rastras. Su modo de acción es bastante similar al cincel con la limitación que la púa está siempre vertical. Por esta razón, la profundidad de trabajo de las gradas de púas depende del peso de la grada y del ángulo de tiro.

Como en el caso de los cinceles, las gradas de púa para tracción animal se limitan a nivelar la superficie del suelo, mientras gradas de tractor a causa de su mayor velocidad pueden desmenuzar, hasta cierto grado, los grumos por impacto.

Como en caso del cincel este efecto de pulverización no se puede aumentar con repeticiones sobre el mismo terreno. Al contrario pases repetidos de la grada llevan a un efecto de clasificación de grumos en el cual las partículas finas van hacia abajo y los grumos grandes quedan sueltos en la superficie donde no pueden ser más desmenuzados.

There appear to be different types of 'tine harrow' - finger-tine harrow' flex-tine harrow' etc. But they are used to till the soil and prevent weeds growing.
