Not that I don’t think that’s important

Non-PRO English to Italian Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama Teatro
Testo teatrale olandese. Dialogo tra amici al ristorante. Uno di loro vuole rivelare una cosa agli altri.

A: we’ve got a problem. I didn’t invite you simply to have dinner. Not that I don’t think that’s important.

La mia proposta:

Ma non è che ... in una vera conversazione si direbbe "Non è che non... " invece del più raffinato, meditato "Non che non..."? Nessun l'ha suggerito.
Obviously I'm not a native Italian speaker, but Google tells me that, as I thought, it is an extremely common expression.

In questo modo si evita il doppio che visto che è ovvio che sia il parlante a pensarlo.

Io toglierei anche "penso" per alleggerire un po' la frase che è soltanto un inciso, una semplice precisazione di cortesia.

Non capisco né le semplificazioni forzate, se non "migliorano" un testo, che peraltro mi pare banalotto, né l'avversione al "che".

Attenersi all'elementare testo d'origine mi pare la soluzione più semplice.

agree dandamesh : per coerenza, poi quell'io forse ci sta bene a teatro e va pure intonato, solo che sono (all') antica e così ho imparato/tranquillo, a volte però fa riflettere su espressioni dimenticate, per non dire ignorate, e comunque è molto più distensivo che altro

Grazie, anche se non era mia intenzione correggere te. In verità non m'ero accorto della tua nota, scusa. Però conto di astenermi da futuri "aiuti" a Danilo Rana. Mi sembra che si sfori troppo spesso in sovrabbondanti sofismi per bazzecole.
