This is regarding wine and olive oil competitions.
I assume médaille=medal

macarons are circular and can be integrated digitally on label or printed on self-sticking paper.

As you say, the médaille is the medal, but an order for 1000 "maracons" is not for 1000 medals or medallions but for 1000 medal stickers.

A "macaron" is not always a sticker; it can be a lapel button, but it usually is. It can be a car windscreen sticker.
"- Familier. Rosette d'une décoration ou insigne distinctif quelconque, de forme ronde, portés à la boutonnière.
- Familier. Vignette, insigne distinctifs de certaines professions, en particulier à caractère officiel ou administratif, que l'on appose sur le pare-brise d'une voiture.
- Vignette autocollante à caractère publicitaire, que l'on colle sur une surface (vitre, voiture)."
