Am I correct that the suspect defendant has the right to not be present when the verdict is announced?

As far as I understand, the lawsuit has been instituted in a court which is not located in the same city where the complainant accused resides. Because of this, the compainant accused has requested to be exempted from attending the hearings, but he has accepted to submit a deposition to another court which is located in the same city where he resides. Accordingly, the principal court has issued an instruction to the local court to take the deposition (or defense) of the complainant accused.
