Spanish term
la cota del ancho de vía
Spanish to English

Energy / Power Generation
Transformer manufacture
"Para la cota del ancho de vía se admitirá una tolerancia de ± 5 mm"
This phrase is discussing tolerances of the machine upon delivery to the receiving party from the supplier. I know "ancho de vía" in the context of laying railway track, but not in transformer manufacturing. Are there any engineers around who might be able to help with this translation?

Large tranformers have to be moved from their delivery point to placement point. Tracks/rails are prelaid from one point to the other and are embedded in the transformer pad, the transformer being supported on small wheels.

I might add, during inspections, I've seen a number of these type of installations.

Ohh, That makes a lot of sense! I was assuming it was a part within the machine. Thank you very much! |
