Αντίθετα οι «λογικές βόμβες» και οι «Δούρειοι Ίπποι» προσβάλλουν πιο συχνά ένα σύστημα, τοποθετημένοι εκεί από έναν εχθρό του. Αυτό απαιτεί κάποιες φορές φυσική πρόσβαση στο σύστημα που πρόκειται να προσβληθεί, αν και συνήθως προτιμάται κάποιο είδος τηλεχειρισμού. Με την ηθελημένη ή αθέλητη συνεργασία του κατασκευαστή του Software μπορεί εύκολα να γραφεί μία**** «καταπακτή» (trap door ή backdoor)****, ένας μηχανισμός κρυμμένος μέσα σ’ ένα πρόγραμμα που του επιτρέπει να παρακάμπτει τις προστασίες, σε όλες σχεδόν τις εφαρμογές του εμπορικού Software.

The trap door program threat is one in which the designer keeps a hole in the program, so it can be handled only by the designer.
