Finnish term

vähemmän esillä (in this context)

Finnish to English Other Education / Pedagogy
In fact the whole sentence sounds a bit confusing to me, specially the bit "vähemmän esillä olleesta opiskelijannäkökulmasta".
Is it something along these lines: "Quality was particularly intended to be approached (vähemmän esillä) from the existing students' point of view" ?- Sorry this is a bit rough, but...

(Opetuksen) Laatua haluttiin lähestyä nimenomaan vähemmän esillä olleesta opiskelijanäkökulmasta

less predominant

Just for the record, this is a more literal meaning (originally the word esillä means 'on display/show'). Esillä also means 'current' in your context.

I disagree with the peer comment. It is true that we can make adjectives more extreme by using adverbs such as very, absolutely, far, etc. IMHO in this case there is no need to make the adjectival expression more extreme. The statement is neutral, not extreme in any way.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Timo Lehtilä : As I understand it just 'less predominant' does not convey the info included in the source sentence that students' point of view has not been paid much attention up till now. 'So far less predominant' would do the trick.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, Marju. I think the sentence looks much better now, doesn't it? Thanks to your help! "Quality was particularly intended to be approached from the less predominant point of view of students""

so far less discussed

'Esillä olo' here means 'to be (generally / publicly) discussed', 'to be paid attention to', 'to be in the limelight'.

"Quality was particularly intended to be approached from so far less discussed students' point of view"

More exact translation might be "Quality was particularly intended to be approached from students' point of view that has so far got less attention."

Kiitos, Timo!
