German term

vorhalten

German to English Tech/Engineering Internet, e-Commerce RSS
Ein als Sticky markiertes Item wird nicht im gewöhnlichen Updatezyklus des RSS Feeds positioniert, sondern wird solange vorgehalten, wie Sie es unter dem Punkt Speicherzeitraum festlegen.

Was wäre hier eine passende Übersetzung für DE? Danke!
(I know there are loads of translations in the kudoz glossary, but I'm still not sure what fits here)

keep / hold

I'd say ...

An item marked as sticky [...] is kept / held for the period defined ...

I'm trying to work out whether you could use 'stuck' to fit in with sticky but I don't think it works!

retain

To my mind retain fits best as it places more stress on the fact that the content remains on the RSS Feed longer than unflagged, resp. *unstuck*, content.
Example sentence:

The sticky bit was introduced in the Fifth Edition of Unix in 1974 for use with pure executable files. When set, it instructed the operating system to retain the text segment of the program in swap space after the process exited.
