Serbian term

zajednicka advokatska kancelarija

Serbian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
I'm looking for an idiomatic English term here - I've played around with 'chambers', 'legal firm/law firm + various adjectives' but can't seem to find something idiomatic without getting into difficulties over the barrister/solicitor distinction in English.

UK English is needed here.

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions

Kind regards

Thanks Daryo - in the end I followed your advice in the response to Mira's proposed answer.
Daryo Mar 6, 2013:
@Simon Johnson If you want to use an "English" term, I don't see how you could avoid the problem of the barrister/solicitor distinction. Whatever "English" term you use it will associate to either but not both of them. As these lawyers are not from UK, it's maybe better to use something that's not at all used in UK but would still be understood in the right way.
Another option would be to find a firm of solicitors that have also the right of audience in higher courts, to see if they've found some different name for themselves.

joint law office

It seems that this is how it is usually translated.

neutral Daryo : not a single "joint law office" based in UK; but OTOH it could be an advantage - it would make it clear these are not from UK

Barristers work almost entirely as individuals; solicitors work mainly in partnerships or as employees; legal executives are nearly always employed by solicitors. Barristers are paid a fee per case; solicitors in partnership take a share in the firm's profits; employed barristers, assistant solicitors and legal executives are paid a salary. This could change if necessary.

neutral Daryo : partnership – yes, but "solicitor" is too misleading: a "solicitor" in England and Wales is not the same as an "advokat" in Serbia – too many differences //see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrister //

Hvala; ovo je moj pokušaj u smislu "an idiomatic English term…UK English“, kako je u pitanju izričito traženo, a uz sve eventualne nedostatke koje navodite. Simon će najbolje znati šta mu odgovara.
