... to ask "what kind of a friggin' question is that?"

Of course my household duties interfere with my work. As does the need to tie my shoelaces or brush my hair. And my work interferes with my knitting of rainbow scarves. The day only has 24 hours on this planet, so everything interferes with everything. Huh?

I used to do it on Saturday afternoons, but now I have a cleaning lady come in every second week. I pay her by the hour, and she also takes care of my laundry. Works just fine!

Not at all Apr 6, 2017

On the contrary, many of my household chores are a welcome respite from screen time, an opportunity to stand up, move about, stretch my legs, get some fresh air and generally rest my eyeballs.

Household ... duties? I quite like to tidy my house now and again, but I wouldn't call it a *duty*.

No, not at all! Apr 6, 2017

In general, no! I live alone, I’m very tidy and I have a cleaning lady every week. Actually, the potential interference is the other way around: work comes first than my domestic chores…

I have a helper who comes every week. That's an expense that I have budgeted for ever since I started translating. I don't think I have used a vacuum cleaner in 40 years.

I am sometimes chased out of my own kitchen... Apr 6, 2017

No, chores don't disturb me. They never did much, but since my husband has retired, he has discovered the joys of cooking and brilliant new ways to hang the washing on the line, and that the frightful noisy vacuum cleaner sounds a bit like a super racing car. It soothes his withdrawal symptoms, I think, from driving 50 kilometers to work and back every day.

He used to be quite bad at mansplaining... I have just discovered it's called mandskueliggørelse in Danish. But I can pay him back and more - he asked what a transitive verb was last week!

The vacuum cleaner does interfere with my work a little, especially when my husband feels a need to clean in my workroom, but if I yell the word DEADLINE louder than the vacuum cleaner, he goes away! He doesn't miss his work, and the withdrawal symptoms about the car are wearing off.

Besides, the weather is nice now, and it is the gardening season - I'll be allowed to help freeze beans and tomatoes in a couple of months.
He's really quite good at cooking, as long as you like chillies in everything...

Unfortunately my partner works 8.30-5 so most of the things at home are done by me... which sometimes is a problem,

Looks like we're in the same boat. My wife doesn't like cooking, but I do because I see it as a chance to get away from the computer.

Apart from the fact I am married, we share the fun of cleaning, etc. My wife cleans and I stay out of the way until she is finished:-)

No, but seriously, does shopping interfere with your work - next Poll!! Does going to the loo interfere with your work - there is another one anonymous and I have a few more on top if you want to stay anonymous

really worth dignifying this one with an answer, is it?

I find it hard to work on a messy desk - but that's probably not what the pollster meant ...

Sometimes Apr 6, 2017

I have a maid that comes from Monday to Friday to help us with housechores, including preparing breakfast and lunch.

I live with my mom and she always gets vistis after 4:30 p.m. when the maid has left. So, I have to prepare dinner and do the dishes. If needed, my mother calls another lady to do some special chores.
