Bio
My full name is Katarzyna Alekoglu, but I (really) invite you to call me Kate 😉
So, perhaps you're here because you may have noticed my "petit accent" and now you're wondering where I'm from exactly... Well, buckle up 'cause it's quite a ride! 💫
As someone who was born in the historical parts of Kraków in Poland, grew up surrounded by the Comeragh mountains in Ireland and is now living amidst hundreds of châteaux of the Loire Valley in France, it is safe to say that today I am still passionate with everything multilingual and multicultural 🌏
I am specifically known for my great curiosity for languages and interculturality, as well as my constantly growing passion for translation (my favourite domain being astronomy 🌠). I tend to strive for perfection while keeping a serious yet positive attitude. Seems like a perfect match then, right? 😏
I pay great attention to detail when it comes to my tasks, which is where my love for project management comes forth. I often prove to be efficient and effective when working on translation projects requiring agility, research and collection of specific data, even if it happens to be outside of my area of expertise 💁🏻♀️
Starting off as the “family translator/interpreter”, I quickly realised that I simply must live a life that breathes and sleeps translation. Fifteen years and a couple of diplomas later, I am not nearly done quenching my thirst for this industry! 📚
Over the last decade, I've gained international experience and carried out multiple roles and internships in order to specialise in translation project management, as well as translation itself. After moving to France in 2018, I got the opportunity to localise my first websites while in charge of international development of a concierge services provider. I then focused on mastering the French language as a four-star hotel assistant (waitress, barmaid, receptionist, maid, etc.).
Once I returned on the final path to completing my studies at the University of Tours and then Lille, I started gaining more concrete experience, first as an assistant at the International Relations and Decentralised Cooperation Department of the Tours City Hall, then at TRANSLIT translation company in Limerick, Ireland.
My latest positions as a project manager at TradOnline and TextMaster have helped me turn into a fully independent young professional who is more than ready to tackle what is to follow 🌱
