Non so se esiste un termine equivalente in italiano, ma le biforcazioni in genere sono chiamate "branche": "primarie" o "principali" se la biforcazione nasce dal tronco, "secondarie" se la biforcazione nasce da una biforcazione primaria "La charpente est constituée du tronc et des branches charpentières.
