Nördlingen, a city in Bavaria, Germany, near the border with Baden-Württemberg, holds very fond memories for me and is a great city to visit, with its medieval city wall which is completely intact. I spent the summer of 1968 in Nördlingen, with my grandmother, my uncle and aunt, and four of my dear cousins who lived there. We often got up on the city wall and strolled around the inner city. We had the time of our lives, being in our pre-teens then, attending "Stadtranderholung" (a summer-of-fun program for children), going for swims in indoor- and outdoor pools, biking in the streets, playing a lot outside, and enjoying the "Mainzelmännchen" on ZDF.

Since then, I have gone back a few times and always enjoyed it tremendously. The people of Nördlingen are friendly, they enjoy life and like to share their city with visitors. You can still climb the stairs up to the top of the Daniel, which is still manned by a tower keeper. Only two other European cities also have permanent tower keepers (Münster and Kraków).
