I have a BA in French and Spanish literature, a JD, and a certificate in translation. I also have experience in law which exposed me to technical information in the electricity, oil and gas, international trade and investment, and finance fields.

This is an interesting topic! all my life everyone kept telling me I should have studied translation in college to make use of the languages I learnt in my youth travelling to different countries because of my father's diplomatic career... I never wanted, I was in love with psychology and pedagogy...finally in my first job my boss would have me translate almost every document coming from Brazil and thus my translation career started....I am incredibly happy! Having started with translation studies, I never thought I could end up being a language teacher! After graduation and because of the lack of jobs, I started to think seriously about becoming an English teacher, especially that I've already had a B.A. in English. So, I got my language teacher certificate and was eventually an official high school teacher!!! My undergraduate degree is in languages. After I became a translator, I decided I wanted to understand how language ticks, so years later I went back to do graduate study in linguistics and ended up writing a Ph.D. dissertation on translation theory. | |
