A client of mine wants me to do a translation using Microsoft Publisher. I am basically a Bengali translator who is weak in technology and can use Word and Powerpoint. From my colleagues I would like to know how easy it is to use MS-Publisher and what advantages it gives us over Word from point of view of translaton.
Also can I translate using Word and convert into Publisher? What about the compatibility of fonts (true type and Unicode)?
Thanks.
Roy

microsoft publisher is easy to use for publishing, not for translation. however, you can easily copy text from word to publisher. i think that would be the easiest way to do it.

I completed translating a 100 page book a few days back. I delivered the work in MS Word file using SutonnyMJ font (ascii font), as per the initial agreement, although the source file was in Publisher. Later on, the client requested an additional Publisher version too. I tried to "import" (i.e. convert it to Pub) the Word file from the File menu of Publisher. It worked, except that 15%-20% of the Sutonny font got distorted, turning into unintelligible symbols. Unfortunately, there was no time to fix this problem. I still cannot fix this problem or figure out what happened. I guess ascii fonts don't work well with publisher.
