Hello

I got this program for free in 2009 and since then I've been trying to learn how to use it whenever I have the time. Although the program looks quite promising, it has proved to be quite dissapointing.
So far, as an exercise I have managed to somehow translate .html files. I say somehow because I can't quite use the TM to pretranslate them, I have been able to do it only segment by segment.

Apart from that, I have the following problems:

1. Can not open doc files. They appear as a short string of garbled characters.
2. Don't get any results with concordance search. I guess that if I search a word that I have just translated and the listed TMs in the concordance are the same ones I'm using, then they should appear.
3. I can't create any TM on Publisher (the option is greyed out), so I can only use .tmx and .ppf files.
(I haven't installed Exchange. Somewhere in this forum it says that you need it only to "publish" your TMs...should I install it only to create them? )
4. Sometimes, if I click on the wrong option, the program crushes. For instance, on the Power translate menu, I clicked on Machine Translate to see what happened...and of course, it crushed.

I use 64 bit windows 7, japanese version. I don't know, maybe some of these problems are caused by compatibility issues?

It's a pity that in all this time I haven't been able to make it work. It looked quite promising...

Hi Juanluis,

My answers are below:

1.
Would you be able to send me a sample file a word document to support@alchemy software.ie?
Also if you would like I can have a look at the html and TM for you.

2.
The concordance search only searches the active Translation Memories for previous translations of a word or phrase and not your PPF file.
We have a new feature in Publisher 3 which is called Recycle Translations and it scans the current Project (PPF file) for translated segments.

3.
Can you send me your build number? You will find this under Help > About Publisher.

4.
Again this could have something to do with your build. Publisher is not certified to run on a 64 bit OS system however we do have clients that run this program successfully on this OS.
