As long as someone has things of substance to say, I don't really care how they start their sentences, or whatever feature they choose to pepper their speech with.

Written uptalk? Jan 22, 2016

So, to be honest, the thing that is currently sends me blind with rage is what I call written uptalk - when people put a question mark at the end of a statement:

"So today it rained all day? And I couldn't go out anyway because of translation? And the stock market is crashing?"

I don't know when this started, or what motivates it, but it is on the increase. Something should be done!

So

- maybe it's all part of the British "going continental".

In other words, turning a statement into a question, as is done in French, Italian etc. As in:

Maybe it's all part of the British "going continental"?

Consultants Jan 22, 2016

- Upper Management's buy-in (mind the capital letter)
- Kick-off meeting
- Margin expansion
- To stick with adequate pricing strategies
- Maximise sales while optimising profit margins
- To attain greater levels of granularity in reporting

And I haven't touched EU subject yet. That's just "business world".

I suggest you run some of those up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes them.

Let's diarise it for next week.

I'll have to discuss it with key stakeholders, but it will depend on your semi-captive items sales velocity. Give me some time, I'll have to analyse what the return on investment yields in lower-end market segment.

Hold your horses. I had a chat with our project sponsor. We pieced together some stuff, but still have to factor in the data we poured into the system last week. Our junior associate (the guy who's taking care of nitty-gritty stuff, like data crunching, etc.) will come back to you with some results.

This project will be a game changer. Bear in mind we've already implemented innovative technology launch pad, which is a yardstick in value-based approach with some really nice add-ons.

Tsk, tsk. Surely you mean "revert to you"?

Come on Merab, you're not on the same page as us guys and we all need to be singing from the same hymn book.

Foreign language translations/professional translation services Jan 22, 2016

- Our company offers foreign language translations (has anybody tried to translate a text from their native language into their native language?)

- Our company offers professional translation services (I'm yet to find a company that claims to offer amateur translation services)
