French term

Le directeur l'état civil

French to English Social Sciences Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs French Canadian birth certificate
This is on an abbreviated version of a Fr Can birth certificate, obviously, the issuer of the birth certificate. (The rest of the document is merely name, date and place of birth, date of issuance.) The American version would be something like Director of Office of Vital Statistics, but is there an official French Canadian version? I cannot find one on the Canadian govt. site. (Grand dictionnaire says "aucune fiche").

Quebec The official Quebec website English version leaves this title in French. While that is, no doubt, fine for people living in/familiar with Quebec, it would not necessarily be acceptable for the purpose of your translation.

"Decision of the Directeur de l'état civil

The Directeur de l'état civil examines each application received. Following examination, the Directeur renders a written and substantiated decision."

asker Just a pointer: all institutions, courts, laws etc. in Canada have an official French title. You can finf them on Candian government websites.

agree cc in nyc : From your Can. gov. reference: "To obtain a copy of a certificate please contact the Vital Statistics Office of the province in which the event occurred." Also see FR and EN titles for New Brunswick. Maybe "Registrar" instead of "Registrar General.

Thanks cc// Yes, the elevated personage him/herself is unlikely to open the letter, but probably has to sign the copy certificate.

Directeur de l'état civil

In Canada, birth certificates are issued by each province. The title "Directeur de l'état civil" is used in Quebec so I believe the birth certificate was issued in that province. And in Quebec, the title remains the same whether the birth certificate is printed in French or English. You can check out the site and an example of the form.
