...la competencia intentada por el actor

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Ruling of inadmissibility
This is a ruling of inadmissibility in Mexican Spanish. It is written by a court dealing with commercial matters and is addressed to one party's attorney.

The entire phrase is as follows:

Es menester destacar que la competencia intentada por el actor, corresponde a un presupuesto procesal.

The rest of the paragraph then goes on to explain what is meant by "presupuesto procesal", which I have translated as "procedural prerequisites", but there isn't any explanation I can glean of the "competencia" being referred to.

The main problem is the "competencia intentada", but any suggestions for the entire sentence would be much appreciated.

Hello Ruth, I want to say that you were a good sport about the pun. With regard to the translation, it is not an easy phrase since "competencia" can mean a few things. But, although I'm not sure enough to agree with Tom's answer I think it's somewhere along those lines. I second Lorena's statement. Perhaps next time you can provide plenty of context since that is key to figure out these translation queries. Cheers!

Seriously though, I wasn't aware that I was limiting myself so much by inviting members only. Not having much experience in these forums, I assumed it was the standard way of doing things. Thanks for pointing this out.

@ Ruth I am a Proz member and I do have to say that some of our best legal contributors are not necessarely members, in my humble opinion (I hope you don't mind my 2 cents) you are really missing out on some excellent contributions by limiting your query to members only.
