I wonder if "bowel movement" is the correct translation here...

Discussion

sabbar May 11, 2013:
Defecation is the act of excretion, but إخراجات is the end result (pardon the punn).
Yasser El Helw May 11, 2013:
I am sure the source file says "bowel movements". However, "اخراجات" is an unfortunate translation. I usually go for "عدد التبرزات". It is much clearer this way!
Muhammad Said May 11, 2013:
bowel movement (colloquial)
It is the final act of digestion, by which organisms eliminate solid, semisolid, or liquid waste material (feces) from the digestive tract via the anus.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, Mr. Said... given that this is a back translation.. and should be more on the literal side..."

You are right: Bowel movements

There is nothing called "excretions" in medicine.
If they meant urine, they would have said urine!

Peer comment(s):

agree Lucinda Wills : I would go with "bowel movements" because it would be more understandable to a patient answering a questionnaire than "excretions" or even "defecation".

Thank you, Lucinda :-)
agree Shereen Whiten, BA. : or passing stool

Thank you, Shereen :-)
agree Lina Shehabi Murad (Mourant) : It looks to me that it was meant to be (عدد مرات الخروج / التبرز)

Even nicer :-) عدد مرات التبرز is lovely. Is مخرجات in Syria for stools only?
agree Lamis Maalouf : This is a back translation, most likely it was BM but I agreed with the first as to the meaning. You are right, Yasser, this is what is normally used. For next time, please don't put: "You are right" as part of your answer :)

I haven't participated in Kudoz for quite some time. Thank you for reminding me :-) It is just that I don't want to take credit for a answer already suggested by the asker. Purely altruistic :-)
