Spanish to English Other Agriculture Horse feed

Hello everyone,

I'm translating a short text about horse feed, and have come across this phrase:

La ingesta total diaria recomendada en un caballo en un correcto estado de carnes es...

I'm struggling to find the meaning/translation of "estado de carnes", in large part because Googling presents an overwhelming amount of information about the properties of horse meat.

I assume it's something to do with the body weight/muscle mass of the horse, but I'm not sure of this, nor of the equivalent in English.
