Persian (Farsi) term

به رسم ادب

Persian (Farsi) to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
دوستان عزیز سلام
عبارت به رسم ادب در انگلیسی معادلی داره؟
مثلاً کادویی به شخصی اهدا کردید و می‌نویسید به رسم ادب، هدیه‌ای ناقابل از طرف فلانی تقدیم می‌گردد
اگر منبع معتبری هم ذکر کنید عالی خواهد شد!

comment on "out of respect" or "as a courtesy" Without seeing the context, it is a bit difficult to judge this. In general, I would say that in English we would never write this on the gift (or the card)...it would just sound too weird. We could write "with admiration" or "in your honor"....it really would depend on who you are giving the gift to

Note from asker:
سپاس! آیا می‌تونید یه مثالی بیارید که این عبارت در کانتکستی استفاده شده باشه که مربوط به اهدای کادو باشه؟ آیا در چنین موقعیتی هم کاربرد داره که روی تگِ کادو یا پایان یک نامه بنویسیم Out of respect ؟

neutral Edward Plaisance Jr : see discussion The translation is good...the problem is cultural...we just would never use this like it is used in Iran.

Yes, I couldn't find such a phrase, too. However, "به رسم ادب" literally means "out of respect."
