A woman wrote the above words. Does الست perhaps refer to a maid, or to something else?

Thank you for your input. "Lady" was originally what I had in mind but I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track since a woman was speaking. If it had been a man, I would have assumed he was talking about his wife.

`The woman`as an answer is less respectful term as compared to `the lady`who could be a `helping hand`at home or even the `housewife`..
