Arabic term

تطيش بلبنا

Arabic to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I'm wondering what this phrase means, written by an Iraqi author describing Mosul in the mid-1900s:

هنا أيضاً أفضل من يبيع المخلل الموصلي المشهور، بنكهة هندية، وهنا أول مقهى جلسنا فيه ونحن أطفال، وفرحة الاكتشاف تطيش بلبنا، لنسمع الراديو يذيع مباراة كرة قدم تجري في بغداد مع فريق مصري

Many thanks in advance.

mesmerized us, amazed us

It is literary translation into English so the reaction should befit a native English speaking context. Here it is when a child first hears a soccer game on a radio, or sees something for the first time that amazes him, or mesmerizes him. Even though, amaze and mesmerize are different terms, but the meaning is almost the same in this context.
