Thank you for your response. Proz encourages askers to wait 24 hours before closing questions, and I think this makes sense because there is always the possibility that someone else will come along with another idea or piece of information that could add more understanding to the term. Although the answer was deleted, someone else suggested "laboratory attendant" and I am actually interested in knowing what other people think...whether they agree with your suggestion or have another one of their own. Like you, I initially thought that the term referred to a technician. If I had rushed to close the question after your initial posting, I would not have benefitted from the information that was posted later. As for posting the text, there actually is no text to post. It is something someone mentioned briefly in a spoken conversation. I kept it in mind and simply wanted to make sure I understood the meaning correctly.
