"Approved strategies" doesn't seem quite right in this context... any ideas???

Discussion

Alaa Zeineldine Dec 12, 2008:
Agree, but perhaps .. This may be addressed to a charity organization headed by a significant figure; perhaps a prince with influential ministerial posts or one of the Queen Noor's or first spouses of the Arabic speaking world. The language in this case, while may be objectionable to us, would be par for the course.
Fuad Yahya Dec 11, 2008:
I agree with you Your concern regarding how it reads in English are understandable. It actually reads just as poor in Arabic. The writing is inflated, to say the least. Notice, for instance, the modifier النبيلة, which has no place here, and notice the convoluted استراتيجياتكم المعتمدة لديكم. The truth is that the entire clause

ترونها تحقق لمنشأتكم الأهداف النبيلة المنشودة، وتتناسب مع استراتيجياتكم المعتمدة لديكم

is superfluous. If the client of this printing job is given the opportunity by the printshop to make changes before printing, the printshop is in no place to tell them how to decide what changes to request.

Occasionally, I receive translation assignments that involve adaptation to the target language and sometimes even retrofitting of the source text. If that is the case, you may wish to advise the client on appropriate changes. Otherwise, they should just get what they deserve.
Heather Shaw (asker) Dec 11, 2008:
Actually, its the word "strategies" that I think is causing me to be hesitant... if it were ""approved business strategies" it would feel more suitable to me, however, since I don't know if this is actually addressed to a business or to an individual, I suppose I would be going beyond the bounds of my limits as a translator. Although I agree that the denotation is correct, the connotation of "approved strategies" without any other qualifiers just seems too much like plotting, war related, competitive... However, if everyone else agrees with it, I guess I'll go with the crowd :) Thanks for all of your input!

According to Sakhr Qamoos the meanings of معتمدة are:
calculable , conventional , customary , common

Also
calculable , accredited , approved , approbated , adopted , confirmed , authorized

I see within the context you provided conventional/customary/common maybe appropriate.
