I think \"Partisan\" might fit too: Partisan is a member of an organized body of fighters who attack or harass an enemy, especially within occupied territory; a guerrilla.

I agree with fedayeen, but if the context is a non-Arab country, then I think the use of the Arabic word would be inappropriate.

To be honest, I'd be surprised, as I think the word has a euphemistic quality, used by Arabs to describe the heroism of fellow Arabs. But if some writer chooses to describe Colombian guerrillas or whatever as فدائيين , who's to stop him?
