A c-clamp is a clamp has a relatively large C-shaped element to accommodate a fairly large object. C-clamps come in literally hundreds of shapes and designs to suit many applications ranging from construction to surgical procedures. The letter C is not an abbreviation. It is merely the shape of the instrument.
