Buck Hawthorn
Particularly popular for the use in cosmetics, buck hawthorn (lat: Hippophae rhamnoides) captivates our eye with its elegant silver-white acicular foliage and its bright orange fruit. At home in Europe and Asia, we know and enjoy it mostly as a drink rich in vitamin C. The list of its natural components is endless: from vitamin C over provitamin A, the B group vitamins, vitamin e, flavonoids, minerals, fruit acids, palmitolein acid, steroles and essential fatty acids. The oil extracted from the seeds has antibacterial properties and is therefore very often used to treat skin disorders and acne. In particular, it is the combination of vitamin E and provitamin A that binds free radicals and protects the skin from UV rays, dryness and wind. The oil’s job is to support skin regeneration and counteract the aging process. Dry, rough skin regains elasticity and a beautiful, even complexion.
