dyrektor (kierownik) ds. hotelowych

The role of accommodation manager in any hotel is a challenging task. The reputation of hotel greatly depends on the cleanliness and hygiene standards of its bedrooms and public areas. The reason that the accommodation manager’s task is so difficult is any busy hotel has heavy traffic through its public areas hour by hour and keeping on top of the hygiene is hindered by this constant use
The daily routine of an accommodation manager in a hotel would include the following tasks
Daily allocation and organisation of hotel bedrooms and house assistants
To ensure all rooms are serviced.
Check rooms on the floors allocated.
Check all public areas to required standard.
Prepare VIP rooms and ensure additional extra’s are in place.
Recording of lost property.
Record and follow up maintenance issues.
Monitor assistant’s presentation and neatness.
Meet and make welcome all guests and answer queries promptly.
To be aware of the business in the system and the status of all arrivals including groups and tours.
To recognise VIP and regular guests and ensure all the staff are also familiar with them. This applies to both in house guests and new arrivals.
To be familiar with outside factors that may affect the hotels business.
To be aware of the budget targets and to motivate staff into attaining these targets.
To monitor the progression of staff, recognise training needs and ensure full training is given both in house and off site.
One of the greatest challenges facing hotel accommodation managers today is the recruitment for their hotel. It can be difficult to fill the departmental employment needs as the duties of an accommodation assistant can be strenuous and taxing. Retention of staff is vital in this department above many others as the accommodation manager and the hotel invest a lot of time and training in to new employees in this area to guarantee the highest of standards. Creating a pleasant and open working environment is one the best ways to retain these hotel employees.
Key communication relationships for the accommodation manager to uphold are with the front office and reservations department most importantly, conference & banqueting for dealing with linen & flower orders, as well as maintenance and cleaning. It is also very important for the accommodation manager to communicate regularly with the general manager, duty manager and the rest of the management team.
