Moving average consists in calculating arithmetic means for defined parts of the time series rejecting the first value;
Moving average- a method of smoothing a time series to reduce the effects of random variation and reveal any underlying trend or seasonality. For the time series x1, x2, …, xt the simple three-point moving average would replace the value of xk, k = 2, 3, …, t – 1, with
1/3 (xk-1 + xk + xk+1).
