po prostu Pan mówi, że Afryka jest mu bliższa niż to co widzi tu (czyli w Europie). Ale jest Polakiem i ta bliskość jest tylko wyimaginowana.

Z serduszkiem, bo może tam i pobrzmiewa sentymentalna nutka, odzwierciedlająca (choćby i wyimaginowane) przywiązanie do Afryki. Powieściowo-pasujące;)
