Academic vs. vocational In the UK, such subjects would be called "academic" as opposed to vocational/practical. "Theoretical" is a bit of a faux ami here.

Unfortunately, the full line should have been "filiera teoretica - profilul real", the last two words being most puzzling to me.
Fortunately, Vera included that in her discussion - that makes perfect sense. This was most helpful - can I award 4 points for a discussion entry?

emphasis/concentration on core sciences or liberal arts rather than vocational program; these are students who are college bound.

theoretical vs. vocational The term is used to differentiate between highschool courses that concentrate on theoretical subjects (whether sciences or humanities) as opposed to vocational schools, where courses are more practical.
"Profil real" - sciences (maths, physics etc) vs. "Profil uman" - humanities (languages, social sciences etc.)
