Discussion

Mihaela Ghiuzeli Dec 24, 2009:
Liviu-Lee Roth Dec 24, 2009:
în contextul dat cred că "I didn't enjoy life for a while" ar fi o variantă
Claudia Anda-Maria Halas (asker) Dec 24, 2009:
Veronica Costea Dec 24, 2009:
Nici un semn de viata?? Care e contextul?

I have dropped out of sight

sorry for having dropped out of sight

to keep in touch

Here the term is elliptic in Romanian. It should have been "nu am mai dat nici un semn de viata". The translation should be "Embarrassingly enough, I didn't keep in touch with you for quite a while."
Not to be confused with "a da de viata=a da de bine" which has no place here, considering the feeling of shame. One can not possibly feel ashamed for finding water or striking gold. This be the case, the translation would be "Embarrasingly, I stroke gold here for quite a while"

The expression to use when someone is too busy to have time to live his own life is "too busy to take (or catch) her/his own breath
Example sentence:

Embarrassingly enough, I didn't keep in touch with you for quite a while.
