Este vorba de partea cordonului de sudură care este deasupra nivelului pieselor sudate.
"weld height" sau "bead height" este înălțimea sudurii, dar termenul acesta de "supraînălțare" se referă doar la partea de deasupra pieselor, care în engleză este "reinforcement".
Uneori se cere îndepărtarea acestei "supraînălțimi", sau "reinforcement", prin cotele respective de la desenul tehnic al sudurii.
