I did screenshots of the job postings before and saved them in a separate folder too, but your method (pdf/xps printout) is better. Thank you. | | | expressisverbis Portugal Local time: 17:27 Member (2015) English to Portuguese + ... Alejandro, many thanks | Jan 7, 2016 |
for confirming this was a real scam, and how you have handled this situation. I have received your warning email. I am impressed with the new information (scammer techniques) about these people! Thank you to all who have contributed in this thread. Happy New Year (without scammers)!
I received the same email this morning. Glad to have found this thread! Were our details obtained via our proz.com profiles? | | | Laura Verta Italy Local time: 18:27 English to Italian + ...
I received the same e-mail. They said deadline for application expired on January the 8th 2016. I also tried to write them back, ten minutes ago, actually, and the message returned back as failed. I sent them my cv!!! What do you suggest me to do? Ps. Their mail was in my Junk's file. Do I have to worry?

Diana Antunes wrote: I received the exact same email from this "Lucia" this morning. It did look suspicious. I clicked on the link to access the PDF and it didn't seem to cause any trouble. However, when you read about the next steps to accept the position, you see that they ask for a $30 (refundable, or so they say) deposit! Never in my life have I heard of an employer asking for any sort of deposit from a potential employee. Very fishy! A certain local agency used to ask for an equivalent of 156.50 EUR for testing purposes that you will earn back (!) doing projects IF you pass their translation test. You won't get the money back if you don't. That agency still exists. | | | Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 12:27 English to Spanish + ... What a coincidence! | Jan 12, 2016 |
I received an offer for US $78,000 right off the bat from the same organization. What set the alarms off in my head was that the offer wasn't addressed to me in particular. Hmmm. And such a juicy offer without even an interview? And giving obsolete deadlines to answer? Funny, and not funny haha. The only difference is that they didn't ask for money.
I have received this very strange same offer this evening. I suspected there was something wrong and made a search on the Internet. I found this thread. Thank you! Best wishes for the new year to all of you. Gabriella | | | Got it today too | Jan 12, 2016 |
What alarmed me was this "Please keep in mind that the position will expire if not finalized by Friday, January 8th." And today is already January 12. I am glad I decided to check if this was a scam here.

Hello, I have just received an email exactly as the other members and I thought it was strange because although I could remember the ad I was pretty sure I did not apply for it. In any case, I agree that Proz should make sure that these ads are real and not scams, since they take time to respond to and they may also damage our system, and that would be really annoying! I wish you the best for this 2016! Gaby
