Just in case the tax office requests them or they're needed to be presented during an (unexpected) inspection. Better safe than having to start a rushed print job.

I have a handy little slot behind the screen on my laptop and I can feed ANY piece of paper (including hard copies of invoices) in there, as many as I want, any size so they’re stored forever IN my computer. It’s like a limitless filing-cabinet. Whenever I want to retrieve anything I just press a button (the computer knows what I’m thinking) and out it pops – just like a piece of toast. Marvellous!

You do or you don't. Maybe some people don't invoice? I said yes because I am required to in Italy. And of course I always do what I am required to.

As others in Europe... I have to keep them - but I'm not sure they have to be on paper. I have a paper version, because I give my accountant the whole lot of papers (incoming and outgoing invoices) at the end of each quarter. I am quite sure he keeps the whole lot in his accountancy programme and the invoice files are stored on my HDD as well.

I would agree that something like "stored in my computer's cache, in my computer's memory" but when it's just "computer" I think just "on my computer" sounds better. Maybe it's just me.

Most of my invoices are sent electronically and so never even come into contact with the printer in the first place. Keeping them would just be unnecessary clutter, I could always print them out if required.

Although I do like the sound of my contraption. Yes, of course "ON my computer". The only extraneous item I have IN my computer is crumbs.

dasein_wm wrote: You do or you don't. Maybe some people don't invoice? I said yes because I am required to in Italy. And of course I always do what I am required to. I’m starting to think there must be people who don’t invoice because a new client was surprised when I sent an invoice, saying that it wasn’t necessary. Apart from tax reasons, I also like having an invoicing system to help me keep on top of my accounts. I told the client that he could feel free to ignore it but that I always issue invoices. Back to the original question, I only keep my invoices on my computer, as I am NOT required to have hard copies for tax purposes.
