Hello everybody,

I would like to work with a translation agency which uses SDL Trados themselves whereas as I am working with Wordfast Anywhere. I have only started out as a freelance translator very recently, but as far as I know, I should be able to import SDLXLIFF files to Wordfast just fine. Hello everybody,

I would like to work with a translation agency which uses SDL Trados themselves whereas as I am working with Wordfast Anywhere. I have only started out as a freelance translator very recently, but as far as I know, I should be able to import SDLXLIFF files to Wordfast just fine. The agency, however, encountered issues with segments which were locked in Trados were no longer locked in Wordfast last year.

My question: Is this issue of unlocked locked segments in SDLXLIFF files is fixed in the latest version of Wordfast Anywhere, and if not, is there any workaround?

I am afraid the problem is that Wordfast, or at least the Anywhere version, does not have a similar function, but again, I am pretty new to Wordfast and I may simply have not found the button hidden in plain sight.

Many thanks for your help in advance!

Ask in WFA Yahoo Group / Try OmegaT / Ask you agency for a standard xliff format file Oct 27, 2017

Hi Jasper,

I recommend you to ask your question in the WFA Yahoo Group >> https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Wordfast_Anywhere . I'm sure they can help you with any issue you may have.

However, WFA isn't the only free CAT-tool that deals with xliff files. Another free (foss) CAT-tool that deals with xliff files is OmegaT¹.

OmegaT's a powerful tool so it's worth installing it and test it with your sdxliff file...

However, if you want to translate sdxliff files without Trados, it's important that you ask your agency to send you a standard xliff file so that you can use your favorite tool.
