Discussion

Marcelo González May 26, 2012:
Dependência In regards to this term, however, it appears it's not a question of being "entitled to re-sit" (or re-take an exam): first, it's not an option the student is "entitled to"; second, it's a course/subject.
Nick Taylor May 26, 2012:
referral 6. The LLB (re-sit period) Intermediate Examination
6.1 Candidates who are referred are entitled to re-sit all failed subjects in the LLB (re-sit period) Intermediate Examination.
6.2 Candidates who fail are entitled to re-sit the entire Intermediate Examination in the LLB (re-sit period) Intermediate Examination.

Nick Taylor May 26, 2012:
School-speak: referral What is the difference between a ‘referred’ exam and a ‘deferred’ exam?
When a student is 'referred' in an assessment, this means they can retake it, but their mark is
capped at 40 and they must pay a fee for the assessment.
If a student is 'deferred' they are not charged, and their mark is not capped.
Students are normally deferred if they have either failed or have been excused from taking an
assessment due to mitigation having been granted.
Students are referred if they have failed an assessment, and the exam board requires them to
retake this assessment.

What is Probation

Students are placed on academic probation if their cumulative UC GPA falls below 2.0.

Students are also placed on academic probation if their "term" or semester UC GPA falls below 1.5 for one semester. (Your overall UC GPA may still be above a 2.0 but because of the results from one term, you will be considered a probationary student.

(Required) Repetition of Course: Physics

REPETITION OF COURSES
Students may repeat a course in which they previously received a passing grade only with the specific authorization of their academic dean. Such repetition may be required if students received a "D+" or lower grade in a course in the major or minor field (e.g., biology courses only for biology majors), or if specific departmental regulations so require.
