What do you mean, missing the point in terms of spelling? 'Descriminados' may appear in your text but are you imagining that the species were 'absolved' or 'decriminalised'?

You're missing the point however in terms of spelling. Yes, it's a bad choice, but what I'd like to know is what is the best word to use within this context of the translation, in terms of the flow of this sentence....

From the context, it's obviously 'discriminados'. This can't be the first time that the Portuguese - or any other nationality - have mispelt a word.

Definitely "descriminadas" and not "discriminadas" - at least from the point of view of the original source text, yes ;).

just another suggestion ! up to you to choose !!! :-))
in my opinion, "grouped by" implies that several species may have the same level of risk extinction and that therefore one could not differentiate them from each other. So, I think it would be better to use "sorted by" !
