Portuguese term

contador

Portuguese to English Other Furniture / Household Appliances Furniture

Hope this helps. Thank you!

"contador"/chest of drawers

A mais aproximada, a meu ver, seria "chest of drawers" pr "mini chest of drawers". Veja os links abaixo.

cabinet

The term "cabinet" is used sometimes to describe a "contador".

It is not always "mini"... some are quite big.

Very rare, late 17C Indo Portuguese Contador. Probably fom Gujarat, these decorative luxury cabinets were produced in India for Portuguese merchants in the 17C.

However you will also find large and rather cumbersome cabinets of a type known in Portugal as contador, the inlay ornament being either geometrical or semi-abstract.
