1. O limite de R$20.000 refere-se ao valor de alienações (vendas) em cada mês (vd link abaixo).

2. O tipo de operações isentas é pertinente, portanto na tradução tem que referir "operações de ações"/"operations carried out with shares" (porque a expressão deve subentender/incluir compra e venda de ações), e "no mercado à vista"/"spot market" (porque existem outros mercados, como o mercado a prazo/termo).
Os "ganhos líquidos" é o saldo das operações todas, não são apenas das vendas.
Portanto, a tradução para "the sale of shares on the stock exchange" não reflete o original, sobretudo nas suas subtilezas.
