português term

choro/Chôros

português para inglês Arte/Literatura Música Brazilian original music
since it's about Brazilian music, i guess the terms are actually Portuguese, "choro" and "Chôros" seem to have some connection, the terms in context refers to the music pieces of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, i've found some info says that "choro" is sort of a music genre created by Villa-Lobos-but in some part of the article it simply look like a music work done by him; and it says these works were inspired by "Chôros"...then Villa-Lobos wrote "the Noneto"...
can anyone tell me what these terms really are?
with tons of thankfulness!

so are they the same thing? thanks for reply, i just wonder if they are the same thing, and Fred mention about "chorinho", it's also in the article, is it same as "choro"? and what about "Chros"? i'm sorry coz i don't really understand Portuguese, i can just look up the dictionary, but still can't figure it out...
anyway, thanks to both of you, and the others who gave me opinions!

Fred Neild (X) Nov 10, 2005:
Yes, 'choro(s)' and 'chorinho(s)' are the same thing. I wouldn't spell it 'Chros', just "Choros". 'Choro' means 'crying' in Portuguese.

choro [italics]

don't translate..

this is a Brazilian, popular musical form which is "salon"-type music. A drawing room version of samba etc. Often with Flute also. ..do not translate it...it is played by a group of musicians with stringed instruments..it is also sung..you can look up the particulars..

choro= the type of music, one of the compositions...

aka chorinho...

Vila Lobos drew on this popular musical form for his compositions. They are not in and of themselves choros. Just based on them.
