منبع کا متن - انگریزی ‘Dogs’ is a metaphorical poem where the poet has highlighted the plight of stray dogs who have no place to live or proper meals to eat; this condition has deprived them of all sense of dignity. But the poet urges that if someone would awake them from their slumber of ignorance and make them conscious of their indignity, “they would revolt/ and teach arrogant man a lesson – /tear his fancy clothes – / bury their fangs in his bones.
ترجمہ - اردو "کتے" ایک مثالیہ نظم ہے جس میں شاعر نے ان آوارہ کتوں کا المیہ بیان کیا ہے جن کے پاس نہ رہنے کی مناسب جگہ ہے اور نہ کھانے کو مناسب کھانا؛ اس حالت نے ان کی عظمت کے ہر احساس کو کچل دیا ہے۔ لیکن شاعر اس بات کی ترغیب دیتا ہے کہ اگر کوئی انہیں جہالت کے اندھیرے سے بیدار کرے اور انہیں ان کی پستی کا احساس دلائے، تو وہ مغرور انسان کو ایک سبق سکھا سکتے ہیں اور اس کے عمدہ لباس کے بخیے ادھیڑ سکتے ہیں اور اپنے نوکیلے دانت اس کی ہڈیوں میں پیوست کر سکتے ہیں۔
