It was an interesting job but only one, and I do not follow, I hve a very basic profile. Anyway not useful.

I'm glad it's not just me who doesn't find the LinkedIn "experience" useful at all any more.
There was a time in the distant past when I occasionally got work through LinkedIn, but I can't remember the last time that happened. Any contacts that might seem interesting just fizzle out.
So asking me how I keep my "LinkedIn experience useful" is like asking me how I keep my full head of luxurious hair. i.e. It stopped being that a long time ago.

Wait, get on Facebook. That's bad.
I think Facebook is only interesting for local shops and retailers. You can find colleagues over there and sometimes you can get an interesting discussion, but all in all not that much.

I think it’s a mistake to see LinkedIn as a way of finding work quickly. Like any social network, it tends to work according to the time and effort we put into it, and the return isn’t necessarily an immediate job.
Sometimes the most valuable thing is simply getting to know people and allowing people to get to know you.

I have to admit I didn’t give LinkedIn the value it deserved for a long time.
Since the end of last year, however, I’ve become much more interested and active.
I mostly write about translation / subtitling, but I also post about other things that interest me and interact with people and content from other areas.
Another thing I really appreciate about LinkedIn is the tone of the interactions I’ve had so far.
They have generally been polite and respectful, even when people have different opinions, and I’ve come across many genuinely positive and constructive messages.
That is a refreshing change from the constant “translators are going to disappear” discussions and other forms of negativity that seem to come up almost every day here.
I find that kind of negativity exhausting, so I much prefer being in an environment where people can exchange ideas without constantly predicting the end of our profession.
So, for me, keeping LinkedIn useful nowadays is less about actively looking for work and more about being present, participating, reconnecting with people and building or maintaining genuine professional connections.
And, of course, if that eventually leads to someone being interested in my work or to a new project, I’ll be very happy about it!😊 ▲ Collapse

I agree that there is quite a lot of self-promotion on LinkedIn, but I don’t think this is exclusive to LinkedIn. I’ve also seen quite a bit of self-congratulation here on ProZ. 😊
Personally, I don’t mind people talking about their achievements or promoting their work, provided they do that in an honest way, which is the professional way to do it.
What matters to me is the tone and whether there is something useful behind it.
I’m much more interested in genuine interaction and sharing than in constantly proving how successful or knowledgeable someone is.
I’m normally a very modest person, so sharing my achievements doesn’t come naturally to me.
But when I do, it’s not because I want to boast, it’s because I think it’s important to make myself known and increase my visibility as a professional.
