Wordfast actually refers to this as "Reference search" (reference search for unformatted (txt) material in a reference folder designated in Terminology/Reference). It is indeed very useful and is activated by a button to the right of the "Context search" (TM) button (or Cntl+alt+N).
If you install the PlusTools freeware, you can click on a "Convert" button to get Wordfast to convert all reference material in a given folder into text format for use with this feature. Make a copy though, as the original material will be overwritten.

Both Trados and Wordfast have a translation memory (bilingual) lookup feature (as do all CAT tools).
Trados calls this Concordance search.
Wordfast calls it Context search.
