I´m studying the suffixes in a morphologically-complex indigenous language and need to organize a database of suffixes in that language which I can sort via certain parameters (type, definition, form, etc). I'm using Trados MultiTerm for this purpose, those it isn't a particularly easy program. Does anyone have any suggestions for any other programs?

How about MS Access? Mar 11, 2007

This might be a case for a database software like MS Access, where you can tailor a database structure according to your needs.
The initial amount of work for setting up the database (and, as the case may be, learning the software), might pay off later.
However, others might know an existing software for this very purpose.

Cheers,
Erik

This is important, because you can do this in almost any program; even MS Word provides excellent tools for making databases and sorting them according to different parameters, but depending on how you are going to use this database, your choice may be limited. Usually for similar tasks I use MS Excel. In Excel you can not only compile and sort the database, but also specify certain conditions for using each suffix, like the preceding letter, following word, length of the word, etc.Collapse

What you have described so far, can be done in excel as well - using filters and pivot tables for instance.

When it comes to (lisp-like) grammatical issues, then you can still use the accumulated information in some other, more appropriate tool.
