Hello all
A client has asked me to look into sourcing booths and headsets for an event in Malmö. Does anybody have any recommendations?

I though the person(s) organizing the conference make(s) arranges the booth/headset. We are just like plugins- go to the venue and start interpreting right away.

I used to work as an interpreting manager.
You’ll have to email a bunch of local suppliers to give you a quote (so you can compare their offers and pick the lowest price, I assume the clients cares about the price). Then you’ll have to coordinate and email them back and forth to answer their numerous questions about the venue, number of seats, the type of booths, receiving mics etc. A load of technical questions. Sometimes they supply just the audio, sometimes just the booths, and other times both. Depends on their offer and range. You can search them through Google locally. It’s possible they can only speak Swedish and want to negotiate on the phone or talk with you in SE when they are at the venue.
It’s highly unusual that a client asks an interpreter to do this, seems to me they want to avoid technician/logistics manager costs (which are usually high for events and conferences).

If you were to ask me, as an interpreter, who the good equipment suppliers are where I am, I could tell you not only about prices but also about quality of kit, what the people were like to work with, and who else you might approach to find out, and I'm pretty sure many of my colleagues would do the same.
I (and those colleagues) consider doing that to be part of maintaining good relations with my clients and positioning myself with them as a consultant and not just a mere "plugin".... Yes, but you can’t do that when sourcing remotely and everything is much more complex and difficult. As far as I understand, you are in France, the suppliers are in Sweden. It’s a totally different process.

It's precisely because I'm not in the same country that I'm trying to reach out to colleagues who might have first-hand experience of suppliers in that country that I can recommend to my client. What my client does with that information is their problem, but I will have learned something along the way, expanded my address book a tiny bit, and nurtured my relationship with my client.

What about using a search engine as a "consultatn" to find providers in Malmö?
Usually the equipment is provided by the venue management or the event manager. If you know where the event will take place, you could start with asking people there if they know somem suppliers (or if they can provide the equipment).

Perhaps there's a Swedish forum here on ProZ? At least it would be more targeted = more chances to get a useful answer.

Bearing in mind I am not from that area, I can't find any local suppliers on Google, but I can see there is one in Denmark (it should be well connected to Malmo) https://teletech.dk/en/rent-interpretation-equipment/
In the picture they have the new Bosch system, which is amazing. As an alternative, I would look for a supplier who has Taiden

There are no many managers in the forums, as far as I know. The people who could give you feedback are event, venue or project managers as they deal with suppliers and equipment. Most interpreters don’t know who the supplier is, they just sit and interpreter.
I agree with others, seems Malmo doesn’t have many. You might need to use search tags in Swedish though.
