Yes, Leticia, a means to edit will be available soon Apr 14, 2005

Leticia Klemetz wrote:

You mention it would be good if we sorted our previous KudoZ to have them reflect the specialty categories, but there doesn't seem to be any link to do that. Are you planning on a means for us to assign fields to the already answered KudoZ?

We are preparing a means to edit questions in which you have earned points, if those questions do not have detailed fields or are not PRO-level. We will announce it in the forums and the next newsletter. Thanks for your support and encouragement!

I see your point Apr 14, 2005

SwissTell wrote:

My native language is SWISS GERMAN, not AUSTRIAN GERMAN or GERMAN GERMAN.

I see your point. I apologize for the fact that we do not yet support dialects throughout the site.

May I suggest that for the time being, while we do not have dialects, you select simply "German"? I am aware that the languages are quite different, but I believe an outsourcer looking for a native speaker of Swiss German, faced with no alternative, will select "German" and try to zero in from there. You might also be sure to have "Swiss German" in your profile, so that a person searching by keyword would find you.

better classification in directories Oct 15, 2005

Things will change, and I hope very soon, with a better classification between agencies (or "outsourcers"), possibly in a renewed outsourcers directory, and translators (freelancers who personally deliver personally most of their service), who may also occasionally outsource some work, but they would stay in the freelancers section, perhaps with a marker to distinguish the nature of their service.

All Quiet on the Western Front ?

Yes, as a pure outsourcer I also look forward to the moment in which agencies will be made to stay in the agencies sector instead of popping up all the time when I am searching for freelancers. It's a nuisance and an abuse of the system.

I propose the following very simple system:

1) Users can only register as an agency or a freelancer, not both
2) A freelancer can only list up to 5 language pairs

It can be 10 rather than 5, but a technical limit would make much more difficult for agencies to spam the freelancer directory.

How do "verified degree credentials" fit here? Feb 2, 2006

Hi Henry and Jason,

I am posting this question here because nobody anser my support ticket and maybe this was the proper place. I am not sure how this verified degree credential works in directory search, if it does at all.

I run a search a couple of days ago (Eng-Sp, translators, native speaker, verified credentials), before my degrees were verified, to check what my position was in the list of translators: #30. I run another search today (degrees already verified), t

I also checked the profiles of some of the colleagues that preceeeded me. Most of them had verified native language, but just declared degrees credentials, not verified.

Does the directory take consider verified credential either native language and/or degrees? Doesn`t it tell the difference? Does it make any difference to have a "real" degree? Can I just make up some degrees and acreditations as far as I have my language verified? How does it reflects in the ranking,if it does at all?

So many questions....But I want to know to get the most out of this feature. Or at least, try to understand how it works.

Thank you.

Message cut-off: explanation Feb 19, 2006

Walter in his post used a html delimiter - that's why his message is cut-off. You can see it using 'Reply with quote' button (you can read the whole message using this, BTW).

Walter, would you mind editing your post (replacing the "offending" sign with '-', perhaps?)

HTH,
Magda

Hi Magda,

What is "the offending sign"?
What is a "html delimiter"?
I wrote as usual. Can you explain, please?

Also, funny nobody answered me for two weeks. Now a moderator answers after ASUY made the same question aI had done before.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Magda, disregard my previous message. I just understood what you meant. Why didn`t anybody said that before?

Thank you.

Hi Graciela,
No, nobody has, here.

I placed a support ticket and it also took some time to understand what I was asking, but in the end... it was a bug and it was fixed a week ago.
It`s supposed to be working fine now.

Thanx.

If this is what was solved in private, I think it would be interesting to have a public answer.

Best,
Grace
